WishReceive is a free gift registry that lets you create wishlists, share them with family and friends, and coordinate gift-giving without duplicates or spoiled surprises. This privacy policy covers the WishReceive website (wishreceive.com) and the WishReceive Chrome extension.

2. Information We Collect
Account Data
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from your Google account.
Wishlist Data
Items you add to your wishlists, including product name, URL, price, description, image URL, and quantity. This data is either entered by you manually or auto-detected by the Chrome extension from a product page.
Connection Data
The connections you make with other WishReceive users, and the wishlists you share with them.
Chrome Extension Data
When you click the WishReceive extension icon, the extension reads product information (name, price, image, description) from the webpage you are currently viewing. It also stores your last-selected wishlist ID locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API. The extension does not collect browsing history, personal information, or any data beyond what is described here.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the wishlist service — storing, organizing, and displaying your wishlists
- To let gift-givers you have shared a list with see and reserve items on your wishlists
- To pre-fill item details when you use the Chrome extension to add a product
- To send password reset emails when you request them
4. Information Sharing
- Wishlist items are visible only to users you explicitly grant access to (or to anyone, if you choose to make a list public)
- Gift-giver activity (who reserved or purchased an item) is never shown to the list owner — the surprise is always preserved
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services
5. Chrome Extension
The WishReceive Chrome extension has specific privacy characteristics:
- The extension only activates when you click its icon — it never runs in the background and does not monitor your browsing
- When activated, it reads product metadata (name, price, image, description) from the active browser tab only
- This product data is sent exclusively to wishreceive.com (your own account) to add the item to your wishlist
- No data is sent to any other server or third party
- The only data stored locally in your browser is your last-selected wishlist ID, so the extension can remember your preference
- The extension does not collect or transmit personally identifiable information, browsing history, or user activity data
6. Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored on servers hosted by DreamHost in the United States
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text
- All connections between your browser and WishReceive use HTTPS encryption
- We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure
7. Your Rights
- You can edit or delete any wishlist, item, or connection at any time through your account
- You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us
- You can uninstall the Chrome extension at any time, which removes all locally stored extension data
8. Children’s Privacy
WishReceive is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
